International Academic Conference Announcement:“Comparative Regionalism Roundtable” & “Advancing Theory and Practice in Comparative Regionalism and Area and Country Studies”
The world is currently undergoing the greatest changes in a century. Amid rapid global transformations, rising anti-globalization sentiment, and increasingly complex geopolitical rivalries, global industrial, supply and value chains have been disrupted, the world order is at a “pivotal moment ” marked by these changes. Despite this, regions continue to demonstrate remarkable vitality, driving a renewed wave of regionalism worldwide. Comparative regionalism has emerged as a vital frontier for advancing both theory and practice in IR and area studies. After the four previous sessions (Beijing, Wuhan, Xi’an, Weihai), the “Comparative Regionalism Roundtable” has become as one of China’s most influential academic platforms for IR and area studies. To further scholarly collaboration and innovation, as well as promote research on IR and area studies guided by “comparative regionalism”, the “Comparative Regionalism Roundtable” alongside the Symposium on “Advancing Theory and Practice in Comparative Regionalism and Area and Country Studies” will be held in Guangzhou, China, from May 16 to 18, 2025. Scholars worldwide are cordially invited to contribute their insights and expertise.

There is no conference fee. Travel expenses between cities are to be covered by participants, but the organizers are pleased to offer accommodation and meals during the conference for registered attendees. Please complete the Registration Form (attached) and submit it to the conference email by April 20, 2025. Final confirmation of attendance and details will be communicated via email by the organizers.
