Paul-Henri Bischoff, Professor and Head of Department of Political and International Studies at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa, has held previous appointments at the Universities of Papua New Guinea and Swaziland and he has been Visiting Professor at Jinan University, Guangzhou in China. His current research interest lie in African Foreign Policy Studies and African Regional Organisation as well as in Chinese-African relations. Recent publications include ‘Africa in Global International Relations’ (with Amitav Acharya and Kwesi Aning,2016), ‘The international relations of South Africa’s National Assembly and SADC’ (2017) and ‘A challenge to conventional wisdom: locating agency in Angola and Ghana’s economic engagements with China’ (with Ronald Chipaike)(2018). With an additional interest in peacekeeping and international election administration, he has been an international election observer in elections across Africa, Melanesia, the Balkans, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia and North America.
