2013年3月23至24日，暨南大学华侨华人研究国际学术研讨会——“东亚跨国人口流动”国际学术研讨会在广州顺利召开。本次会议由我校与日本立命馆大学和韩国中央大学联合举办，由我院承办，来自国内外的40多名专家学者参加了会议。暨南大学副校长宋献中教授出席了会议开幕仪式。
在开幕式上，宋献中副校长表示，暨南大学长期以来一直重视开展移民和华侨华人研究，在该领域形成了自身的学术研究传统和特色，已经成为国内乃至国际学术界中华侨华人研究的重要基地之一。举办此次研讨会是暨南大学与海内外移民研究学者交流借鉴的良好机会，希望能够通过举办研讨会等形式，提高自身的研究水平，争取把暨南大学设成为开放性的、具有世界水准的华侨华人研究基地。
本次国际研讨会由“中国新移民”、“海外华人：经济与政治”、“海外华人：社团与个人”、“移民与民族国家”、“在中国的外国人”六部分组成，来自日本、韩国、美国、马来西亚、印度尼西亚、泰国、中国香港、中国台湾等国家及地区的国内外专家不仅着眼于对东亚跨国人口流动的探讨，同时放眼全世界的移民问题，成果颇丰。会议得到了与会者的高度赞誉。我校将继续与日本立命馆大学、韩国中央大学等国内外大学保持密切的交流与更进一步的合作，推进全球跨国移民以及华侨华人研究的事业。据悉，下届国际研讨会将会在韩国举行。
Jinan University International Symposium on Overseas Chinese Studies VI—the successful staging of the International Symposium of People’s mobility in East Asia

Jinan University international symposium on overseas Chinese studies—People’s mobility in East Asia was successfully held in Guangzhou from 23rd to 24th March, 2013. The conference was jointly sponsored by Jinan University, Ritsumeikan University of Japan and Chung-Ang University of Korea, and organized by the School of International Studies and Academy of Overseas Chinese Studies at Jinan University. More than 40 experts and scholars who came from home or abroad attended the academic feast. The vice president of Jinan University, Prof. Song Xianzhong attended the opening ceremony and extended a warm welcome to all the guests and scholars. As the keynote speaker, he said that, Jinan University has always been making effort to conduct the studies of migration and overseas Chinese and has formed its own traditions and characteristics of academic research in this area. What’s more, the Academy of Overseas Chinese has become one of the most important research bases of overseas Chinese studies at home and even abroad in academia. Through this symposium, it is a great opportunity for Jinan University to exchange ideas and communicate with scholars from all over the world. He hoped that the university could keep holding such international symposium and related academic activities to further improve research level and develop Jinan University into an open and world class base of the Overseas Chinese studies.
The international symposium was composed by the following six sessions:"China's New Emigration", "Economic and Politics of Chinese Overseas", "Chinese overseas: Institutions and Identities", "Migration and Nation-State", "Foreigners in China" and "session in Chinese". The experts coming from Japan, South Korea, America, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan of China and other countries and regions not only concentrated on the discussion of people's mobility in East Asia, but also migration issues within the world. The conference has been fruitful and highly regarded by all of the attendances. In the future, Jinan University will continue to keep in close touch and maintain further cooperation with Ritsumeikan University of Japan, Chung-Ang University of Korea and other universities, as well as making joint efforts to promote the globally transnational migration and overseas Chinese studies.
